UEBER/LEBENS/WEISEN (I)
SUR/VIVA/BILITIES (I)
2018 / Lovinac (HR) Within the course, different working and living realities of people professionally working in the field of Arts and Culture are discussed, especially the practically tangible ones. Various alternatives and lifestyles, far from the classical Art and Culture Institutions are highlighted and questioned in reference to the circumstances and the own modes of operation. For the duration of each project, the group gets into a situation, in which they live and work in one of these places and contexts. Hereby, the relationship to the own personality, the own work and the own habitat becomes the focal point of the observation and is fundamentally discussed. In the first part of this multipart project, the group moves to the rural region of Lika, which is sparsely populated and a structurally weak area in the center of Croatia, bounded by the Velebit Mountain and the Bosnian low mountain ranges. In cooperation with artist Kruno Jošt and students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, the approaches and infrastructure, enabling autonomous supply of water and electricity, as well as the cultivation of crops in undeveloped areas, are being looked at. The research also concerns the connection of practical and functional objects of so-called applied art with the aesthetic and artistic object of Land-Art. Is a house on wheels an art piece? Is a meandering aqueduct a contemporary installation? Is a wild meadow a curatorial concept? How does Media Art work without the internet? The aim is to collectively design and create the installation, by considering current and future problems of the area, to finally change specific points in a sustainable manner and in accordance with existing structures. The course is addressed to all students of the HGB and takes place in Lovinac, Croatia in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and the artist Kruno Jošt. |
